Lightpoint Medical is recruiting a Manufacturing and Test Engineer to play a key role in the company’s product development plans.
The Manufacturing and Test Engineer will be expected to become a key member of a small multidisciplinary development team and to work with the other engineers and act as the key link between the development and manufacturing teams, with all that this encompasses.


Education and Experience required as a Minimum:
Degree level in relevant engineering discipline e.g. manufacturing, mechanical or electronics + demonstrable practical design experience or equivalent.
A background in instrument development / manufacture would be seen as an asset but is not a requirement. Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes is also considered to be beneficial, though again not essential.
Prior knowledge of working in a medical device company or of EN 13485 is not essential, however, it would be highly desirable.
10+ years relevant engineering experience.


Reporting Structure:
The Manufacturing and Test Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager.


Role Responsibilities:
• The Manufacturing and Test Engineer will work with the development and manufacturing teams to bridge these ‘two worlds’ and to deliver a high quality product that is straightforward to manufacture.
• May be required to design and build manufacturing test equipment, e.g. be that mechanical, electronic and/or optically based.
• Will work with the regulatory team to help prepare product test procedures, based on the initial requirements.
• Will be expected to conduct comprehensive product testing and to document the findings.
• Will need to work autonomously to ensure that all tasks are completed, as per project plans and budgets.
• Maintain good communication with the Engineering Manager and with other cross-functional members of the project team, with regards to project plans, costs and risks.
• Shall provide sound estimates and plans for tasks.
• Use bug tracking software tools e.g. Jira or similar.
• Must be able to use standard electronics test equipment e.g. Multi-meters, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, etc.
• Provide Project Management capability to take on supervision of specific projects.
• Attend peer review meetings and comment on designs from other engineers or groups.
• Support manufacturing and other relevant departments during the project development and production phases.
• Be proficient in the use of MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, etc.
• Must understand and follow the company QMS ( EN 13485 ).
• Must be able to produce high quality engineering documentation.
